About total hip replacement
Total hip replacement replaces the ball and socket of the hip joint with an artificial implant. Modern implants commonly last 20 years or more.
It is often recommended for advanced arthritis, avascular necrosis or hip fractures. Minimally invasive approaches can shorten hospital stays.
Who is it for?
Patients with severe hip arthritis, avascular necrosis (AVN) or a failed earlier hip operation.
Recovery
Walking with support within 1–2 days; most return to normal activity in 6–12 weeks.
