About endoscopy & colonoscopy

An upper GI endoscopy examines the food pipe, stomach and duodenum; a colonoscopy examines the large bowel. Both use a thin, flexible camera, usually under light sedation, and small tissue samples (biopsies) or polyps can be taken during the same test.

The range covers diagnostic procedures with sedation. Treatments done through an endoscope, such as ERCP, stenting or removing large polyps, are quoted separately.

Who is it for?

People with persistent acid reflux, difficulty swallowing, bleeding, anaemia, unexplained weight loss or a change in bowel habit, and for bowel cancer screening.
